First-gen Acura MDX reliability - how does it compare?

Car reliability research

We've updated the results for the MDX to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 38

2005: 45

2004: 68

2003: 98

2002: 86

2001: 60, a single response short of the minimum for a full result

The 2003 is about average, but not far from "better than average," while the others are better than average.

Small sample sizes for the 2001, 2002, and 2003.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 17

2005: 53

2004: 67

2003: 48

2002: 94

2001: 54

The 2002 is about average, while the others are better than average.

Small sample sizes for the 2001, 2002, and 2003.

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of the MDX, the percentage with no repairs is about 83 for the 2007 and 51 for the 2008, while the percentage of lemons is about 3 for the 2007 and less than one for the 2008.

2004: 50

2003: 42

2002: 81

2001: 51

All are better than average.

The sample sizes were only above the minimum for the 2004 and 2005, so the stats for these two years are the most precise.
