2012 mdx differential fluid

I have a 2012 MDX with Tech/Entertainment package and was wondering why Acura recommends changing the differential fluid at 14,00 miles ? I have never owned a vehicle where i had to change this fluid let alone at 14,000 miles. Do they make a synthetic fluid to increase intervals ? With todays technology, one would think this would not be an issue. Could someone please enlighten me on the reasons why this is necessary ? Something doesn't seem right. Dealer charged me $130.00 for this.

I also wondered why frequency of Honda Accura Differential oil change was twice as often as my previous Jeep...
According to my independent mechanic ... its due to very tight tolerances by Honda Acura and the fact they use clutches in the differential. Some others also use clutches.
The upside of SHAWD is how it improves the Handling and Cornering
but the downside is more frequent changes.
It wont burn up at 15 K but at that point it looses too much lubrication and will begin to
"shudder" when you turn. Other types of fluid are possible - not advised - but still should be changed frequently.
In short it may not work harder than say my Jeep but it works differently.
Your independent mechanic can do it for about 2/3 of what Acura Dealer charges and they use the Acura Fluid.
Your Jiffy Lube will do it for less but use Brand XYZ unless you supply the Acura Fluid.
