Never thought I'd see the day.... No Acuras in my garage
Well, I never thought it'd happen, but this weekend, it did. I no longer have any Acuras in my garage. After driving 6 different Acuras over the last several years, this weekend I traded away my 2011 MDX Advance.
I have no intention of leaving MDXers, and would love to continue helping folks with their detailing questions and in any other way I can. This forum has been a great place for me to learn and I appreciate you all for that. Now, with two german cars in the garage, I'll probably gather a bit of disdain from the japanese purists on this board, but I'm sure I'll be back someday, sharing a new car thread containing a nice new Acura. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through your posts and photos, and remember all the great times I had in my MDX's. Cheers The current garage: 2013 Audi A4 S Line: ![]() 2013 Volkswagen GLI Autobahn Navi: ![]() 2004 Yamaha R1:

I really loved my MDX but it just wasn't the right car for me anymore. Maybe I'll be back someday...

Eh! The MDX is Canadian, at least until the 3rd gen decides to be an American. I wouldn't worry about any Japanese purists giving you grief.

I am with you Jsilas. We recently sold the MDX. My daily driver is now a 2013 WRX and we are looking at a BMW 3 Series for my wife. I liked the MDX but it never clicked with my wife. She ended up driving our old 4Runner more often.
I used to be a Honda junkie, stemming from being a Honda parts manager many years ago, but it will probably be some time before we get another Honda product. It is hard to put into words, but I need a car with character and I just don't get it with Honda products anymore. The WRX, on the other hand, sometimes has too much character ![]() Plus, my detailing friend, German paint is better than Japanese paint

haha, actually at this time it really does; it's filthy. I can't wait to get a nice warm day to show the paint some love. I think I can safely say that the A4 is superior in every way, however more driving of the GLI will be needed for a full review. I've barely driven it, but I can say that the DSG transmission is shockingly good considering the cost of the car. Dammit, is that why it's been so hard to turn? Quote:

Yep, I had a 2001 A4 and the paint was great. Not sure if it still applies, but I could only get certain products to work on that car to my satisfaction. If I recall correctly, I used 3M Imperial Hand Glaze and either One Grand Carnuba or P21S. German paint definitely responded differently than the Honda CRX and Integra GSR I had at the time. I had to have two different detailing setups. Let me know what your findings are when you and the Audi have your personal time!!

^^^ Agreed
My Ibis White S5 has some hard clearcoat on it. Almost reached for the rotary but decided to just take my time with a Cyclo. The MDX is an appliance. Works all the time, yet uninspiring. I miss my 91 BMW because it made me feel like part of the car. A4 S-tronic or 6mt? I want to try an S-tronic 8 speed, heard its great. The DSG is my second fav automanual with Porsche PDK #1

My A4 is a 6mt, but we have the DSG in the wife's new GLI, and it's pretty dang impressive. Shift speed and smoothness is quite astonishing especially considering the price point of the car.

Beautiful cars and beautiful women! I've learned that I tire of both after I live with them awhile. Lol. I've only got 150 miles on the MDX and the new / fun factor is still there for me. For now.
