Zdx
Hey MDX gang,
I'd love to hear some feedback from my fellow MDX lovers about the ZDX. I know many of you don't like it but..... We are looking to replace my wife's 2003 TL, and I'm almost embarrased to admit, but we like the looks of the ZDX, inside and out. The back seat entry and storage space sucks, but that is a minimal concern to us since we have the MDX. So any thoughts? Should the low production numbers and/or the eventual elimination of the ZDX be a concern? And why didn't I get any search results when I searched "zdx"?

If utility isn't a concern, go for it!

They only sold 1500 of them last year (about half that number this year) so not too many zdx folks around. I'm sure you could get a great deal on one. It is an answer to a question that was never asked! Good luck!

I'm not seeing anywhere near the cash backs with the ZDX as our dealers are offering with the MDXs. I think it is because of the low numbers of ZDXs around, the dealers have few in stock.
Could make obtaining a nice deal much more difficult.

When I saw the weight of the ZDX (close to the MDX) I could not see why I would buy a "stubby" with the same performance/mileage! I sometimes find I do not think I will need the space of the MDX--but it is there when I do. (I know you say you don't need it--but hard to use ur MDX if it is in the garage and you and wife are 50 miles away and didn't think you would need it--but do)

With the drop in price for the 2013 model year, if you like the look, it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Do you need the ground clearance though? I think that's the only big draw of the ZDX over the TL or RLX.

It appears at first glance on the Acura Canada website, that the 2013 is $2000 MORE than the 2012. I haven't reviewed it closely to determine if the trim level is the same.
ND and Fred have good points. We don't "need" the extra height as our 2003 TL gets my wife where she needs to go, even in the worst winter storms. For us it is pure esthitics, we like the look of the ZDX over the TL. And I never thought much about the size/weight of the ZDX being like our MDX. Wife prefers her TL over the MDX in winter primarily because her car stops so much better than the MDX. I just found a used 2010 ZDX with 11,000 KMs on it (6500 miles) that is $20,000 less than a new one. Darn thing is 1000 miles away so going to have a look at it is out of the question. I sure appreciate the comments as I tend to ignore the realities and practicalities of these things when I get fixated on something. Especially since I am going to my Acura Dealer's private open house this afternoon. I'll practice my "JUST LOOKING, THANKS" phrase on the way there.

I think they sold 2-4 of them in november. Sales weren't too hot.
But IMO I actually like the ZDX too. I think the main gripes was that it is not good at being an SUV and is too big to be a good luxury sedan. But I think its perfect for couples who don't regularly expect to have passengers. Driving up to snow resorts would also be very safe. It's also very stylish and I'm sure handles pretty well. It's definitely different and rare.

Wife spent a half hour with the ZDX yesterday. She absolutely LOVES it. All the way from the appearance to the way it drives including all the tech toys inside. The visibility out the rear didn't bother her and the cargo space isn't a concern.
The one thing she didn't like was getting into and out of the vehicle. She found it a bit awkward and I think the major part of that is the wide threshold. And with our nasty winters, junk on the underside of the doors will easily find it's way onto pant legs. Not sure if it will be deal breaker or not. But at the very worst, we look at a new TL to replace her old one. Thanks for all your input guys.
