Would you buy an Acura MDX again
Just wondering what's the opinion lately on the 2nd Gen Acura MDX.
This is for new and used MDX models. Here are the options: (I found I can't edit the poll options once submitted). 1) Yes, definitely. 2) Maybe, undecided on the timing on the 2nd gen. but will probably consider one in the future. 3) Undecided, want to look at other competitors first. 4) NO, want to get something different. Thanks.

I like to try out different car so I probably will not buy it again just because I want something different and not because its not a good ride.

We've got two but I think my next ride will be a sedan. Our need for two SUVs should wane in the next few years.

I'd love another MDX, but I would definitely research its competitors.

Although I am very happy with my X now, I would definitely wait and see what is out there before I buy another one. If Acura can manufacture a much better product at a reasonable price I would certainly go for it.

Probably not. I do not like the new styling and have never been happy with the luggage space behind the 2nd row seat.
I have been doing some window shopping lately and the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia are currently at the top of my list. I like the styling of the Acadia much more than the Enclave. Also the rear hatch on the Acadia has a full width opening. Just wish it had as good an interior as the Enclave. G

Probably not.
Acura's move to co-opt "AcuraMDX.org", and force us to "MDXers.org", really pissed me off. While Acura was several years ahead in electronic features like VSA, XM, hands free bluetooth, voice-activation, knockout Navi, et al, these features have now penetrated down to cheapos like the Ford Edge. I've always denigrated the Caddy SUV as a frivolous truck. Who would use a $65K vehicle to haul or go trailing? The MDX is now in the realm of a $50K frivolous truck. What a difference that price increases accumulating to $10,000 makes to me, now that I'm retired! Although, evey time I'm in Sport mode, and down two gears, and take a turn at .99 G's, I reconsider all of the above.

I would vote for definitely if they came out with a vastly improved MDX, with more power, etc..
But being that the 2010 isnt that much better, I would look into something different..mostly for a change...saying that I have no plans in moving into anything else suv wise! |

Having read some recent quality postings on Acura/Honda quality as of late, I kind of wonder if the Acura brand has trimmed QA in return for cost savings during this tough auto industry time period.
What's Acura service like compared to 4-5 years also? For me, I'm thinking of waiting for a 2010 or later model. Apparently, many dealers still demand selling their Acuras at top dollar even if it means having it sit on the lot for months.

The MDX is not a bad vehicle. The driving dynamics are not bad, for an SUV, and the space is ok. I My next vehicle will probably be more car like, so a hatchback or a station wagon. I don't like the extra height that I don't need. I also don't like that the MDX is do damn heavy.

If I had to run out and buy a CUV tomorrow, I'd still pick the MDX. Based on my particular needs, there's still nothing out there that can offer the same level of versatility, utility, and driving dynamics for the price.
So, what are my needs? • Three rows (this is mainly for munchkins, but still needs to be able to handle an adult in a pinch) • A ton of cargo space (though perhaps not as much as G. Colton requires )• The ability to fit in a typical NYC parking garage spot (the Q7/GL are up to a foot longer) • 5-star crash ratings in every category • On-the-fly programmable nav system • The ability to put a smile on my face in the twisties (in addition to handling, this also includes braking, which seems to be a sorely overlooked point in CUVs...) That said, if my wife has her druthers, and we wind up adding another mouth to the brood, my next vehicle will most likely be a minivan. Regards, Adam
