Gracenote update
Has anyone else encountered difficulty in uncompressing the zip file from Gracenote (version 5170)?
Just trying to figure out if the problem is on my end or with the file from gracenote. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Gracenote update
Need to make sure the folder is burned w all the contents. Don't flatten it to just all files. I made this mistake before.

That's true, follow the instructions exactly wrt to sub-directories. I tried using a USB drive for a previous update but it didn't work for some reason - rather than troubleshoot I just used a CD-RW instead and it worked fine.

Well, still no luck. I understand the process, however the problem that I'm experiencing is that none of the three laptops ( 2 pc, 1 mac) in our house will UNZIP the download. I can't even get as far as transferring to a usb drive or CD-R.
When trying to unzip the ACURA_AL_Oct2012 file downloaded from The Official Acura Site for Gracenote Updates it unzips about 30MB of the 458MB file and then displays a dialog box with "unexpected error"...on each laptop. To answer mtbnole's question; go into the audio sub-menu and select gracenote, it will show you the current version you are running. The update is version 5170 |

That's really weird. I just recently did my upgrade using a MacBook Pro to create the cd. No issues. Do u have the latest unzip app? How old are your computers? Do you have enuf space to unzip?

A MacBook Pro, a Win 7 and a 2 week old Win 8, hundreds and hundreds of GB of free space, using the built in unzip programs, downloading the latest WinZip, turning off parental controls on the router...I get the same problem:
Extracting to "C:\Users\Tony\Documents\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no Creating directory: "C:\Users\Tony\Documents\CDDB\". Extracting CDDB\CDDB_MNG.bin Extracting CDDB\ecddb.idx Invalid compressed data to extract. Severe Error: Compressed data is invalid. Just looks like a corrupted download file to me. I wouldn't care that much, except that others were able to use it. Oh well, not a big deal in the grand scheme, thanks for trying to help. |
