EGR Valve replacement

I'm in the middle of replacing my EGR valve but one of the studs that it sits on broke off while trying to remove it, the stud looks like it is part of the water passage. Does any one familiar with that part have any suggestions, or do I have to replace the whole water passage. Since the EGR valve is not pressed down tight enough on the gasket, it clicks which I assume is because it is leaking. Other question is if I drive it like this will it hurt anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I assume you felt around the bottom to be sure it was a stud and not a bolt (or a bolt were the hex is recessed into the casting)? If it's a gasketed joint then the stud is likely just threaded into the bottom flange (it may be loctited in though). Remove the EGR assembly and that will give you access to the top of the stud. You can then try to turn it with vice grips/etc. You might be able to find a bolt/stud replacement at a hardware store until you can get another one from Acura.

You were right, it was threaded in there, and I finally got it out, I was just about to the point of tearing the whole thing apart. Thanks for the info. and suggestion.

My VTM-4 and Check Engine Light came on in my 03 MDX, and I've read some suggestions that maybe all I need is to replace the EGR Valve. Assuming I don't break off the nut, is this a relatively easy thing to do? Got any pointers/tips/tricks for me? We can start with how much is the EGR Valve and where is it located. :-)

Thanks for any help.

The coverage was extended, so you should be ok.

Believe it was extended for sure on 2001/2002 until 80 K miles.
