My CEL has been on for a few months now. Code P0430 comes up. What specifically is this code and what needs to be possibly replaced to remedy this? I've only been able to ind P0420 on this site.
Thanks..... P.S. A few days ago my VTM4 light has come on and off through out the last couple of days. I plan on doing the pin 9 and 4 test to see what it could be.

Thank you, but what now? New converter or sensor? What effect would gutting the cat have on the MDX? On my old 92 300ZX TT, I had the precats gutted and it gave more power. Would the electronics on the MDX just compensate for a gutted cat?

A lot of cars these days throw these codes even when almost new, as some of them trigger as soon as cat efficiency goes down by 5%. Your cat is probably still doing good enough job, but it is under that threshold that results in code. Just take your bottom O2 out and put this in between O2 and cat: Vibrant Performance ::. or this one http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...oducts_id=2009 depending on space you have around the cat as this adds length to O2. This reduces the amount of exhaust flow O2 "sees" and effectively "fixes" cat efficiency. You'll pass pollution sniff test just fine, as cat is most likely 80-90% anyway and if they use OBD2 scantool you'll have no codes, so you are good both ways... Regards, Nino |
