Angry DEAD RAT in Blower Motor Assembly

I was driving the other day and heard it -- hit my blower motor fans. I didn't really know what it was at the time. A few days later it started to smell; that is when it hit me...gotta be a dead animal of some sorts.

Long story short I NEED HELP on disassembly. I got the glove box off and some of the bolts. I can see it stuck in the fan blades of the blower motor but I cannot reach some of the bolts.

I had a Acura Legend and taking the blower motor out was cake. This is insane! how can they hide most of the bolts. One has solder on it! Anyone have HELMS or service manual pics of where all the bolts are? I need to get this out, the maggots are accumulating and the smell is pretty bad especially in the hot Houston weather. Please pics or diagram. Thank you.

OH and I really really don't want to take it to a shop, I do most of my own work.

I am sorry, I couldn't resist... that is nasty, sorry I can't be of any help

PICS

Well I gave up on disassembly of the blower motor unit. Instead I cut the plastic mess from where the flap opens to circulate cabin air. I was able to grab it out of the fans from there.

My only hope is that the Pin-sol will get rid of the horrific dead animal odor.

So if you ever hear any noises or smell animal in your car check here first. Time to order a new cabin filter...it was time anyways.

I buried the rat out back with my dog Fido.

Here is the Blower Motor assembly, and also where you replace your cabin filter. Disassembly is very easy. Pulling the whole unit out...near impossible.

The white blobs are the maggots (8 total)

This is where I cut the mesh and you can see the rat stuck in the plastic fan blades.

Tim,

I think you should send this poor fellow a cabin filter gratis. How much other damage did the rat do?

I wasn't able to disassemble the unit so I am hoping it was just there for a short while before it's life was shortened by the fans tearing into its tender flesh.

I am ordering a new cabin filter now...the smell is gone...mostly. I sprayed some pin-sol in there, going to use bleach and hope that the water doesn't mess anything up. Just a few squirts on the blower motor. I think condensation collects in there anyways and is pumped out.

Q: Are you saying you've got a rat and a dog buried in your back yard?

One doctor I know kept his dead dog in a freezer for years. I heard he finally got rid of it recently.
