Aftermarket Step Bars?

There's a part of me that wants to get running boards or side-step bars on my 2011 MDX ... and there's another part of me (my wallet) that doesn't. Acura OEM running boards or side-step bars are $450+ ... which is a bit spendy for something I'm not sure I really need.

So, I looked on-line for 2011 MDX running boards and nerf bars to find what's out there and found these:

Anyone out there running with aftermarket running boards or side-step bars with which they are very happy with the quality, installation and appearance?

The hardware just doesn't look like it will hold up for a long period of time.

From a photo?

It has a lifetime warranty, btw. Can't be too crappy.

Just curious if anyone's gone with an aftermarket. Seems I may be the first.

You never know. Sometimes there are lifetime warranties for a reason.

Well, I bought them for $118 incl shipping. We'll see. They have a full return policy if I have any angst inside of 10 days. And, I'm protected by eBay and PayPal.

So, I'll post a review once I get them and, if, I install them.

Give em a try and see. This stuff isn't rocket science but hopefully the mounts are correct and line up right. That would be my biggest concern. I just picked up a set of like-new take-off Sport boards on craigslist for $250. If you don't like these just wait it out until you can find a bargain. I've seen them on CL a couple times, just had to find the right ones. Worst case you're out $118.

The package showed up today and these are no slouch. Some heavy-duty hardware. I'll upload pics and a review when I'm done installing.

The only delay was 10 minutes to call the mfr and get a PDF of clear directions. Other than that, they installed fine, look great and are damn sturdy.

Looks good on the MDX

The bars are not too bulky looking.

Thanks for sharing. Another alternative for those who want something non oem.
