Installed Advance Running Boards on 2011

So how are the Advanced running Boards holding up?
Thinking on getting some..

I have read of the rubber buckling on them
and have read of the finish getting spotty on the Sport bars

So wondering which will hold up better..
Like the styling of the Advanced better

Hi,
I am having a problem and hope someone could give me the answers.
I have a 2012 MDX. Last week, I bought an Advanced Running boards which came off from a 2010. The boards are pretty new because the owner did not like the look and decided to take them off.

I read the installation from this thread as well as the online instruction and noticed that it requires to remove the original sill panels and install the new ones. However, I looked that the photo #10 (counted from the beginning) of this thread and noticed that there it is no difference with the ones on my car now.

I called Tim but he doesn't know what is the differences.

My question is: Do I need to order the sill panels in order to install the running boards? Tim has them in stock. I am just worried that what if there is no difference between the sill panel on my MDX and the ones came with the running boards?

I hope that someone would be able to point out the differences between the original sill panel and the ones came with the running boards.

Really appreciate for your input.

The side sill on a 10+ MDX are different than what comes in the kit. The 10+ sills stick out father due to a little lip. They include 07-09 sill in the advance running board kits since they were made for 10+.

If you need a set of sills I still have a set sitting in my garage that I would let go for cheap. Just want them gone. I don't need them since I was installing the boards on my 07.

So you're saying that when you bought the boards, you did not use the set of sills which came with the boards because basically, they are the same? And I would need to get those sill in order to install the boards on my 2012 MDX. If this is correct, I will be happy to get them off your hands. Hi there,
Got another question: after installing, where are the running board positioned in regard with the lips of the sill panels? Are the boards flushed against the sill panel's lips or under them?
Could someone post the photos with the doors open? Thanks.

Looks like I have not had my luck getting the hold of 1tufgt. I will be screw if he only logs in one in a while.

Just used this guide yesterday along with the official one online. Everything went smooth. My only tip to add is to get on your back under the car when trying to pull the existing panel off the car. I was able to pop it off much easier then.

1tugt, they sit either flush or a little out from door. You can adjust it. but they are never completely under the door sill.
